The Beginning of The Red Shoe Ladies Club

Have you ever laughed so hard your stomache muscles ached, tears rippled down your face and you were unable to speak? A group of my friends attended a performance of a comedian by the name of Sue Minns. It was only a one hour session held during a lunch hour.

I would never have thought that one hour would change my life forever. Sue was an amazing woman who witnessed a house fire, MS, depression and cancer. Her attitude and happy, positive disposition inspired thousands of people. She wore red shoes with pride.
She told us that since she was then in a wheelchair, heels didn't hurt her feet any more.
She said she bought them from a transvestite off the Internet. Where else would you get ladies size 12 red shoes?

It was after this performance our group started The Red Shoe Ladies Club. We went to movies, dinners and volunteered for a Special Olympics dance all wearing our red shoes. I sent Sue a picture of us and she posted it on her website. Sue started it all.

Recently retired, I realized I had the time to organize our club via a blog, YouTube and Facebook. Wanting Sue's permission and requesting that she be an honorary member, I searched the Internet for her website and discovered that she passed away last September. She was loved by so many and will be remembered by all with affection and a smile. She has encouraged me to continue this red shoe journey and to live my life to the fullest.

This is the first blog for our club. It is my hope this club will inspire women to have fun, laugh, smile and dance like no one is watching. Stay tuned to make your heart light and your spirit to soar.
